Once clients have used their $750 grant, they can reapply for a second grant (lifetime max of $1,500 per client). We specialize in individual and family therapy for children, adolescents and young adults (ages 3-22) Is your child or teen struggling with emotional or behavioral problems For many young people, individual or family therapy can be beneficial. We know this kind of specialized therapy can be expensive, and this may not cover the duration of a client’s needs, but we believe wholeheartedly this will give clients a good head-start with their healing. The only stipulation, is that therapists are subject to approval by Breaking Free.Īpproved candidates, will receive $750 towards trauma-informed treatments, paid directly to the therapist. Any trauma-informed therapy whether it’s psychology, EMDR, equine therapy, art therapy or whatever is calling to you, can be supported through our grant. One of the ways in which we are doing this, is through our therapy grant program, which allows approved candidates to receive designated trauma therapy services, paid for via our foundation.Īt this time, our grants are only approved for use with trauma therapists in Alberta.

Your psychologist will work with your family to create appropriate treatment goals and progress toward these goals will be reviewed at each session.The main focus of the Breaking Free Foundation is to help make trauma healing more accessible for everyone. Many interventions take between 8-10 sessions while others may take much longer. There are many factors that impact how many sessions your child will need to attend. How many sessions will my child need to attend? All appointments are considered excused absences, and a school excuse note will be provided as needed. Therapy sessions typically last between 45-60 minutes. Therapy sessions provide intervention and support to address many issues, including:įrequently utilized interventions include cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness training, exposure therapy, parent-child interaction therapy, behavior management, parent training, and school consultation.
